Newcastle Earth Sangha

Hello! We are a small dedicated group of folks from the larger Newcastle Sangha who are interested in inspiring each other and our broader communities to respond skillfully to issues related to climate in small everyday ways as well as larger actions. Over the past few years
we’ve organised a diverse range of activities including:

* A poetry workshop with Linda France, Climate Writer for New Writing North and Newcastle University.
* A Balsam bashing event with Tyne Rivers Trust
* Carbon assessment of the centre and work towards getting NBC into the Sustainable centre scheme (in 2024) and maintaining this status.
* Litter picking

More recently we’ve led a series of seasonal walks that combine observation, reflection and nature journalling.

We meet occasionally to plan events – online and in person. If you’re interested we’re always keen to welcome new members and new ideas about actions to organise. Just email Newcastle Buddhist centre at:
newcastlebuddhistcentre@gmail.com for more information.

The best way to keep up with Earth Sangha events is to sign up for the general monthly NBC newsletter as most of our events are advertised there.
We also have a representative on the international Triratna Earth Sangha (TES) group which meets monthly online, and which works in the same way, bringing together reps from Triratna Sanghas across the world to share ideas and inspire each other. You can find furtherinformation about TES at https://www.triratnaearthsangha.network/

TES regularly organises excellent online retreats and conferences aboutthe climate and Buddhism. Here’s an example:
